"Being Part of Something Bigger Than You Are: Better Together!"
Pastor Dave Scherrer and Pastor Mike Brown
January 17, 2010
There is something staggeringly huge about being “In Christ” Together
What we share is infinitely greater than what divides us
Matthew 6:9-15 (NAS)
9 “Pray, then, in this way:
'Our Father who is in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10 Your kingdom come
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
[For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.]”
14 "For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father
will also forgive you. 15But if you do not forgive others,
then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.”
Our Father, Our daily bread, Our debts, deliver Us from temptation
You can’t fully know who you are in Christ apart from the Body of Christ
Mark 10:28-31 (ESV)Mark 10:28-31 (ESV)
28Peter began to say to him, "See, we have left everything and followed you."
29Jesus said, "Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel,
30who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life.
31But many who are first will be last, and the last first."
A new Father
Miracles in a new family
John 13:12-15, 34-35 (ESV)
12When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, "Do you understand what I have done to you?
13You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am.
14If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.
15For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.
35By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."
