"The Commands of Christ: "You Must Be Born Again"
Pastor Dave Scherrer

John 3:1-10: "Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him." Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God." Nicodemus said to him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?" Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit." Nicodemus said to him, "How can these things be?" Jesus answered him, 'Are you the teacher of Israel and yet you do not understand these things?'"
1 Peter 1:3: "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again."
John 6:63: "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all."
1 John 5:11-12: "This is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life."
John 14:6: "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
Ezekiel 36:24-28: "I will take you from the nations and gather you from all the countries and bring you into your own land. I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules. You shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers, and you shall be my people, and I will be your God."
2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
Ephesians 2:4-5: "But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ-by grace you have been saved."
NOTES:
"Born Again" conversations are unsettling
Because of our hopeless condition
Because we cannot cause the New Birth
Because we are at the absolute Mercy of God
What exactly is being "Born from above"?
New Life, Not New Religion
Experiencing the Supernatural, Not Just Affirming It
By faith believing
Jesus is the Life and this life is by the Spirit
New Birth: A New Creation, Not Improving the Old
2 Corinthians 5:16-17
So, how do I become Born Again?
Repent, ask for forgiveness and receive Him as your Lord and Savior and Treasure
